The Council Secretariat function is responsible for the organization, administration and distribution of supporting material for Council. The scheduling of public meetings, agendas, deputations, presentations, plaque awards and special events is an important part of this function. By-laws, resolutions, council room and reports are prepared for the meetings. Council meetings are time sensitive; therefore, material must be put together in a short period of time and distributed to members of Council and Department Heads as per prescribed deadlines.

Our municipality owes its existence to the initiative and efforts of prospectors by the names of Harry Preston, Sandy McIntyre and Benny Hollinger, who in the early 1900′s discovered gold. Financiers Noah and Henry Timmins were responsible for the development of the Hollinger Mine and, thus, the name Timmins came to the forefront and has been our proud designation ever since.
