CITY APPOINTS NEW FIRE CHIEF

September 21, 2017 – It is with great pleasure that the City of Timmins announces the appointment of Normand Beauchamp to the position of Fire Chief.

Current Chief Mike Pintar announced his upcoming retirement earlier this year, with his final day slated for October 31, 2017. Beauchamp will assume his new responsibilities effective October 16, allowing some overlap to ease the transition.

Beauchamp has been in the Fire Service his entire career, and has spent approximately 16 years performing the duties of Fire Chief in communities in the province of Quebec, Saskatchewan and Ontario. His entire adult life has been dedicated to developing and honing his fire and management skills through continual education – graduating from the University of Montreal with a bachelor’s degree in science, and recently completing a master’s degree in business administration. His Fire Service training ranges from Officer and leadership training to emergency management training.

“His vast experience at all levels of Fire Service, as well as his many accomplishments in all aspects of the fire industry will be a great asset to the City of Timmins,” said Director of Corporate Services Rock Foy. “Over the years, Normand has developed great working relationships in every community he has worked in and has gained a high level of respect across the fire community. He has an unwavering passion for the safety and security of a community and knows the importance of a Fire Service to the citizens that it serves. Normand and his young family look forward to integrating into our community as soon as possible and are excited to become our newest citizens.”
