November 24, 2016 – The City of Timmins is excited to announce the lineup for what promises to be one of the biggest festivals across the country in celebration of Ontario and Canada’s 150th birthday. Stars and Thunder – Timmins International Fireworks Competition and Music Festival  will see a spectacular lineup leading up to the performance of international country music icon Keith Urban.

The eight-day festival will feature a lineup of Canadian music stars from a variety of music genres, whose performances will be followed by international fireworks displays by teams representing France, Italy, Finland, Ukraine, China, Brazil, United Kingdom in addition to the host team from Canada.

A great lineup of Francophone entertainers and Team France will kick things off on Saturday, June 24 to celebrate Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, leading into an amazing week of live music featuring Keith Urban, Johnny Reid, Hedley, Simple Plan, Tom Cochrane, Cold Creek County, April Wine, David Wilcox, Michel Pagliaro, Lights, The Washboard Union, Alyssa Reid, Sass Jordan, Alan Frew, LGS, The Box, Meghan Patrick, Sons of Maxwell, Cindy Doire, Celeste Levis and Scarlett Jane.

“We are excited about the list of performers, guaranteed to keep the massive crowds buzzing from start to finish,” said Mayor Steve Black.

The event will wrap up on July 1, with a Canada Day celebration featuring country music superstars Keith Urban and Johnny Reid and a fireworks display from Team Canada, represented by David Whysall International Fireworks Inc. All shows will be produced by Ron Sakamoto of Gold & Gold Productions.

Everyone is encouraged to purchase their festival tickets online.

A ticket sale is offered exclusive to Timmins residents starting on December 1 at 9am online.  For those unable to purchase online they can purchase tickets at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Arena in the Lower Foyer from 9AM to 9PM on December 1 and 12 noon to 6pm  on December 2.

Tickets sales for the general public will begin on December 2 at 6pm online. There will be a payment plan available for online ticket purchases.

In addition to online purchasing, ticket sales are available from December 4th to the start of the Festival week at the Timmins Museum during regular business hours. Tickets are limited, so we encourage people to get their tickets quickly, so as not to miss out. There will be a limited number of individual day passes, all-week passes, and VIP all-week passes. An eight-day all week general admission pass will be sold for $240 (includes taxes and sales fees).  A VIP pass for eight-day can be purchased for $400 (includes taxes and sales fees).

During the day, there will be free activities at multiple festival locations for the entire family to enjoy, celebrating the culture and history of the region. These include free kids’ activities such as inflatables, face painting, live shows, and local entertainment.
