Parks Rationalization Review – We Want to Hear From You
The City of Timmins manages and maintains a significant supply of park and open space areas within the community. Based on industry standards, Timmins is well oversupplied with park and open space and, as such, the City is reviewing its inventory of park space to determine if some of these lands should be considered for other purposes/uses.
The City held three Open Houses on November 22, 23 and 24, 2011. At these Open Houses, Planning received great input from the Public in regards to the Parks Rationalization Review. Staff is currently preparing a subsequent report based on the feedback received. Once this report is prepared it will be made available to the Public on this website for review and comment. In the mean time, the Planning Division continues to welcome feedback on the Park Rationalization Review.
For additional information concerning this session, please feel free to visit our website and/or contact David Vallier, Community Development Planner, 360-2600, Ext. 3347.

Our municipality owes its existence to the initiative and efforts of prospectors by the names of Harry Preston, Sandy McIntyre and Benny Hollinger, who in the early 1900′s discovered gold. Financiers Noah and Henry Timmins were responsible for the development of the Hollinger Mine and, thus, the name Timmins came to the forefront and has been our proud designation ever since.
