Today Public Works announced that the much anticipated waste and recycling automated curb side pick-up would be moving forward on July 18 with the delivery of one waste and one recycling bin for each homeowner of the City of Timmins.
According to Marcel Cardinal, Supervisor, Waste Management, “the delivery of bins will start July 18th and the delivery should be completed by August 8th when the new collection program will be in full force across the City”. During this period we ask all residents to cooperate with the City to ensure a seamless transition from old to new. With the public’s support and assistance, the automated curbside co-collection program will be a success.
Homeowners will also receive an information piece with the delivery of the two bins. This information will allow residents to adapt quickly to the new automated waste & recycling curbside collection.

Our municipality owes its existence to the initiative and efforts of prospectors by the names of Harry Preston, Sandy McIntyre and Benny Hollinger, who in the early 1900′s discovered gold. Financiers Noah and Henry Timmins were responsible for the development of the Hollinger Mine and, thus, the name Timmins came to the forefront and has been our proud designation ever since.
