NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING A PROPOSED CITY-INITIATED ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT, FILE NO. Z-2018-10

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Timmins will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City of Timmins, 220 Algonquin Boulevard East, Timmins, Ontario, to gather public input regarding a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O 1990, c. P. 13, as amended.  This is a City-initiated technical Zoning By-law amendment dealing with the maximum floor area of accessory private garages or storage buildings.

Location:         This technical Zoning By-law amendment applies to lots in the Residential Estate Type 1 (RD-RE1) Zone and Residential Estate Types 2 (RD-RE2) Zone where the lot area in either of these zones exceeds 0.81 hectares (2 acres) .  These properties are located throughout the municipality therefore no map is included in this notice.

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of this proposed City-initiated technical Zoning By-law amendment is to increase the maximum floor area of an accessory private garage or storage building from 93 square meters (1,001 square feet) to 111.49 square meters (1,200 square feet) in the Residential Estate Type 1 (RD-RE1) Zone and Residential Estate Types 2 (RD-RE2) Zone where the lot area in either of those zones exceeds 0.81 hectares (2.0 acres).

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council of the City of Timmins to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Timmins before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the City of Timmins before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
