With the majority of the snow melted off of City streets, the sweeping operations are ramping up.  Street sweeping is weather dependant operation and operations can’t start when snow is still left on the street or when temperatures drop below zero degrees.  It’s been a challenging winter with many temperature and weather fluctuations, and there is an above average amount of sand do to freezing rains events this winter.

Sweeping operations focus on the collection of winter sand left on the streets, sidewalks, and medians across the City.

Bylaw and Notice of No Parking Signs: There is no overnight parking until May 1st, 2017, and after this period, Public Works will be posting signs notifying residents of overnight street sweeping operations.

Downtown areas along with the connecting link and main arterial roads will be swept during the night time hours.  This operation will not commence until night time low temperatures remain above zero degrees Celsius.

Day and Afternoon sweeping operations will take place residential streets and will commence earlier do to the warmer temperatures. Daytime sweeping operations will be posted with no parking signs prior to starting work.
