The Corporation of the City of Timmins is committed to making their infrastructure and services accessible to people of all abilities.  From recreation facilities, to sidewalks, to the City staff who you interact with when you pay your taxes, we are working toward a barrier-free Timmins.

Information you can access here includes a variety of municipal initiatives to foster an inclusive community by identifying and removing barriers faced by persons with disabilities.

The City of Timmins is committed to providing quality goods and services which are accessible to all persons we serve. City Council approved the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Policy in August of 2009.The City is working toward compliance under the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service by January of 2010, the first of 5 Standards which define the Accessibility for Ontarians with a Disability Act (AODA), 2005. The Corporation of the City of Timmins will continue to improve access to our services and facilities for all citizens of Timmins.

The City of Timmins’ Accessibility Plan is developed annually in partnership with senior city staff, the Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC) and the public at large.

People with disabilities are a significant and growing part of the population. Over 15 per cent of Ontarians have a disability, and this number will increase as the population ages.
