The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre has been providing heritage and cultural services to the residents of Timmins for over 35 years. It exists to preserve, present and promote the history, arts and culture of Timmins, Northeastern Ontario and Canada.
In December 2006 the original site of the museum in South Porcupine suffered irreparable structural damage. Since that time the museum staff has been operating from various locations throughout the city.
We are happy to announce that a new location for the museum has been secured at 325 Second Avenue, across from the Timmins Public Library in Downtown Timmins. The new Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre is currently under construction and is expected to open in September 2011.

A new website is coming soon, stay tuned!

Our municipality owes its existence to the initiative and efforts of prospectors by the names of Harry Preston, Sandy McIntyre and Benny Hollinger, who in the early 1900′s discovered gold. Financiers Noah and Henry Timmins were responsible for the development of the Hollinger Mine and, thus, the name Timmins came to the forefront and has been our proud designation ever since.
