Recycling & Composting

Recycling

Additional Green Boxes can be purchased at Public Works (912 Pine St. South, Timmins) at a cost of $20.00, payable by cash only.  Broken boxes will be replaced free of charge. Please bring the broken box to Public Works for replacement.

Composting

Composters are available at Public Works (912 Pine St. South, Timmins) at a cost of $35.00, payable by cash only. Choose a sunny spot with good drainage and loosen the soil underneath to make it easier for earthworms to move up. Mix or layer browns and greens, keep the pile moist and mix it up occasionally. Be sure not to add any bones or meat that might attract unwanted visitors like bears and squirrels. In time, you will have nutrient-rich compost.

Recycling Your Electronics

Unwanted electronics shouldn’t end up in the landfill. Most of the parts – steel, glass, copper, aluminum, plastics and precious metals – can be recovered and made into new products. Also, a lot of electronic equipment such as computers, printers, and televisions can be reused, further cutting down on waste.
