External Water Usage Reminder 2021

As we head towards warmer weather, the City of Timmins is reminding residents of our external water usage by-laws that help us manage, maintain, and regulate the waterworks supply system for the City of Timmins.

Please be aware and follow By-law #1974-253 and amended By-law #2013-7419, which state:

During the months of May, June, July and August, the external use of water is permitted:

o On even calendar dates at only those municipal addresses ending with the numbers 0,2,4,6, and 8;
o On odd calendar dates at only those municipal addresses ending with the numbers 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.

External use of water for recreational purposes only (i.e. small pools or children’s water sprinklers) is permitted for all municipal addresses on all calendar dates. Recreational use requires the presence of children, teenagers or adults, otherwise penalties as set out in Clause 40 of By-law #1974-253 will apply.

During an emergency period when it appears likely that the demand for the consumption of water will reduce the water pressure below what is required for safety or supply of water, the Mayor or Acting Mayor of The Corporation of the City of Timmins can issue a temporary proclamation regulating the use of the water. Any external use of water during an emergency period will require a permit from the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Timmins.

Residents who require external water usage outside of their allowable schedule (i.e. for newly installed sod or seed), will require a permit available through Service Timmins.

For questions, please call Service Timmins at 705-264-1331.
