Timmins.CARE Official Launch
Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board Chairman, George Pirie, is pleased to announce the official launch of the community’s most ambitious website ever. Timmins.CARE is a one-of-a-kind website, for a one-of-a-kind city.

“There are more than 30 local groups and organizations who work tirelessly, day and night, to help those in need throughout our community,” states Pirie. “Their hard work and dedication is often over-shadowed by online conversations that, at times are either mis-informed or under-informed.”

Through this initiative, dozens of local groups are coming together in an effort to shine a much-needed spotlight on the extraordinary efforts underway to help those less fortunate in the most challenging year that Canadians have faced in more than a century. It is also a place where those who want to help can offer their gifts and talents.

“We know we are confronted with myriad issues, including homelessness, substance use, rising mental health challenges, poverty, and other challenges. As a community, we can’t and we shouldn’t allow those pressing issues to dominate public discourse,” states Pirie. “As mayor, I would encourage every resident of Timmins to visit Timmins.CARE and help us shine a light on the many success stories that deserve our praise.”

While the site launches today, it is by no means complete. In fact, there will be many more groups added in the coming days and weeks. Readers will recognize that several prominent groups are not included on the site just yet. Many are working on their content contributions, while others are planning to contribute after the upcoming holiday season so they can focus on the work they do to help the less fortunate among us.

“Let’s make Timmins.CARE the city’s busiest website,” states Mayor Pirie. “Let’s show the rest of the world that Timmins is indeed, the City with a Heart of Gold.”
