Vaccinations Arrive at Long-Term Care Facilities
Two long-term care facilities in the City of Timmins have recently received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccinations.

The Golden Manor has vaccinated 152 residents, which makes up 94% of their occupancy.  Extendicare has vaccinated 164 residents, which makes up 95% of their occupancy. Extendicare was also able to vaccinate four high-risk staff members with the remaining vaccines.

“This is great news for the City of Timmins and our most vulnerable population”, said Mayor Pirie.  “We have to continue to protect our loved ones in these facilities.  I’d like to thank the staff at these facilities and the Porcupine Health Unit for their continued work and dedication to their residents.  I know this hasn’t been an easy year for the residents and the families of long-term care facilities and the staff and management have gone above and beyond to protect their residents.”

Both the Golden Manor and Extendicare expect their second dose of the vaccine to be available within the next 28 days.
