Planning and Building Department presses forward with application processing 
April 20, 2020 - The City of Timmins continues to provide Planning and Building Inspection services despite some limitations as per recent Provincial Emergency Orders aimed at minimizing the spread of COVID-19.

“We are currently operating with limited staff, but are committed to moving development proposals forward,” advised Mark Jensen, Director of Community and Development Services.

What this means for Timmins is that the City will continue to receive and process planning and building permit applications as well as satisfying other service requests. However, the City notes that provincially-mandated processing timelines have been relaxed for development applications, and although building permit applications will be accepted and processed, permits will not be issued for non-essential construction projects until such time as the construction ban has been lifted by the Province.

“Despite this, it is important that we press forward to help minimize any backlog relating to development applications and that we are ready to move ahead with issuing building permits as soon as permissible,” added Jensen.

Applications will be accepted electronically, by mail/courier or can be deposited in the drop box found near the main entrance of City Hall. Application fees must be paid by way of cheque payable to the “City of Timmins.”
