Construction ban lifted

The previous construction ban, which permitted only essential construction projects, has been lifted by the Province effective May 19, 2020.

While the City has continued to receive and process building permit applications for
both essential and non-essential construction projects throughout the COVID-19
pandemic, the issuance of building permits for non-essential construction was put on
hold based on Provincial direction provided at that time. Mark Jensen, Director of
Community and Development Services advises that “what this means for Timmins is
that building permits may now be issued for all classes of construction.” Despite this,
please note that City Hall remains closed to the public at this time. Building permit
applications will continue to be accepted by email, by mail/courier or can be deposited
in the drop box located at the main entrance of City Hall. Please note that associated
application fees must be paid by way of cheque made out to the “City of Timmins”.
