Transit Update - June 23, 2020
June 23, 2020 - Effective Friday, June 26, 2020, the Timmins Transit Terminal will be open to the public subject to ongoing safety precautions including self-screening, physical distancing and hand sanitizing. Timmins Transit will also be reinstating the collection of fares and will be transitioning from the current enhanced Sunday service level to a Saturday service level beginning Sunday, June 28, 2020. This affects both conventional and Handy Transit services.

This means conventional buses will leave the main terminal at 6:30am with the last bus departing the main terminal for the east end route (901 E) at 10:30pm. This service will be provided seven days a week and reflects the gradual and safe reopening of services to our customers.

“This change in service level is expected to better serve our ridership as the Province continues with its staged reopening plan,” stated Director of Community & Development Services Mark Jensen.

“Transit will be accepting debit and credit cards only to purchase passes and tickets,” added Transit Operations Supervisor Ash Patel. “Cash will only be accepted on buses for single trip payment with the exact fare required, to avoid the potential transfer of COVID-19. No change will be provided.”

The public is once again reminded that Transit should be used for essential travel only, and physical distancing of two meters (or six feet) should be respected at all times. Buses will continue to have seating cordoned off to ensure that this occurs. Customers are also reminded to now enter buses through the front doors and to use provided hand sanitizer. Passengers that are not feeling well and exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 should not board any bus and are advised by Public Health to self-isolate.
