Temporary Closure of Municipal Outdoor Recreation Amenities (1)
Premier Ford has announced an extension to Ontario’s current Stay-At-Home Order, which closes most outdoor recreational amenities across the province effective immediately. This preventative measure is anticipated to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 as Ontario continues to battle a third wave of the pandemic.

City owned sports fields, basketball courts, multi-use and tennis courts, beaches, skateboard parks, and picnic areas that would have the potential to attract a high density of users are now closed to the public.

The Ontario Government has reversed its decision to close playgrounds. Playground equipment can be used, but the current Stay-at-Home order also restricts outdoor gatherings to members of your immediate household. When exercising outside, maintain social distancing and wear a mask any time physical distancing is not possible.

Measures to ensure public safety will include installed signage and locking gate access to courts and fields to encourage compliance with provincial measures.
