COVID-19 Restrictions Will Have Minimal Impact on City Services 

Premier Ford has announced that the province will move to a modified Step Two in the Roadmap to Reopen effective Wednesday, January 5, 2022. There will be minimal impact to current City services; however, some changes to capacity limits and restricted access to select municipal buildings will be implemented. Restrictions are proposed to be in place for the next 21 days until January 26, 2022.

Effective January 5, meetings of council and committees of council will move to virtual sessions, with public access available through streaming online at The Timmins Public Library and C.M. Shields Centennial Branch will be operating at 50% capacity. The Timmins Museum National Exhibition Centre will be closed to the public including the gift shop.

Municipal arenas and community centers will be closed to the public with the exception of the Mountjoy Arena, currently under operation by the Porcupine Health Unit for immunization clinics. The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool will be closed and registration for upcoming swimming lessons has been postponed. The City-run dog obedience program has now been rescheduled for January 30, 2022.

Changes to restrictions for long-term care facilities are currently in place. All general visits to The Golden Manor are temporarily suspended as well has social absences. Caregivers must show proof of full vaccination by February 21, 2022. Caregivers designated after December 14, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated and surveillance testing for all staff, students, volunteers, and caregivers is now in place.  

Service Timmins will remain open to the public at the current 50% capacity with required self-screening. All City-owned outdoor sports and recreational facilities including skating rinks will remain open at current capacity limits. There will be no change to municipal services such as Timmins Transit, waste and recycling, or snow removal.
