Part-Time Bus Drivers

Timmins Transit’s mission is “To excel in the provision of a safe, reliable, efficient and customer service focused public transportation system”.  As a transit driver you play a key role in providing this service. 

This is an opportunity to apply your skills in a unique customer-service role.  An ideal candidate for Transit Driver must meet the following:

  • Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) education or equivalency
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess OR capable of possessing a Class “BZ” or “CZ” Ontario’s Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.  No transit experience is required, the employer will train
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Be able to work a flexible work schedule including shift work and weekend work 
  • Have good knowledge of City streets, bus routes and schedules
  • Ability to perform service duties in garage (if required)
  • Ability to compile various reports
  • Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence
  • Clear Driver’s Abstract required 
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen required
  • Current WHMIS Certificate an asset
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination mandatory

Rate of pay

$27.13 per hour (In accordance with CUPE Local 1544 Agreement)
