Strategic Priority 4 of the Plan emphasizes that there is a shared responsibility and effort required to improve the safety and belongingness of all residents while in our homes, at work, and in the community. All residents have the right to feel safe, without fear or risk of harm or injury.

Community safety and security is not only the responsibility of our local police service. It involves the community coming together to better understand our strengths, challenges, and responsibilities in order to take collective and impactful action. This means developing and implementing strategic initiatives that engage diverse groups in meaningful ways.

Targeted Outcomes:

  • Increase in residents' sense of belonging and safety.
  • Increase in vulnerable residents' experiences regarding ease of access to services and critical supports, as well as positive and sustainable outcomes.
  • Increase in community-wide education and awareness on safety and belongingness.
