Overnight Snow Plowing Event – Sunday, March 15, 2026

In response to the declared Significant Weather Event, Public Works will begin overnight plowing operations at 9:01 p.m. on March 15.

Crews will be deployed across the city to plow streets, rural roads, and laneways. Operations will continue throughout the storm and may take up to 24 hours after the snowfall ends to complete.

Due to the expected snowfall, sidewalk clearing may take additional time, with priority given to high-traffic pedestrian routes and areas near public facilities.

Municipal parking lot clearing may also be delayed as priority will be given to maintaining roads.

As previously communicated in the snow removal schedule, no snow removal was planned for Sunday evening or Monday in order to support the storm response.

Residents are reminded that the Winter Parking Ban remains in effect from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., November 1 through April 30. Parking on city streets during these hours is not permitted.

The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as crews work to keep roadways safe and passable.

Public Works Declares Significant Weather Event – March 15, 2026

The City of Timmins Public Works Department is declaring a Significant Weather Event in accordance with the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways (Ontario Regulation 239/02), effective 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Weather Forecast
• Snow beginning Sunday evening and continuing through Monday night
• Total projected snowfall: 30 to 50 cm
• Near zero visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.
• Wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h
• Ice buildup from freezing rain.

Roads and walkways are expected to be extremely difficult to navigate. Travel conditions may become hazardous, with visibility at times reduced to near zero.

Environment Canada advises residents to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Due to the anticipated volume of snowfall, delays in snow plowing are expected on some city streets, roads, and most sidewalks. City resources will be deployed when conditions are deemed safe and appropriate.

Timmins Transit
Severe weather may impact Timmins Transit operations. Service delays and/or cancellations may occur. Updates will be communicated through the City’s website and social media channels.

Important Reminders
• The Winter Parking Ban remains in effect. Parking on city streets is prohibited daily between 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. from November 1 to April 30, unless otherwise posted.
• City By-law 1993-4162 prohibits placing snow from private property onto city roads or sidewalks.

The City of Timmins thanks residents for their cooperation. A follow-up notice will be issued to announce the conclusion of the Significant Weather Event once conditions permit.

The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public of Sanitary Sewer Overflow – Station 2

Address: 57 Evans Street
Start date: March 9, 2026
Start time: 3:02 PM
End date: March 9, 2026
End time: 5:07 PM

Municipal wastewater consists of 99% water from stormwater and homes/businesses from washing, flushing etc. When a treatment plant or treatment process is overwhelmed, a bypass or overflow can occur. These events are often caused by heavy rainfall and/or snowmelt. During a by-pass or overflow, partially treated wastewater is diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system.

Residents can help mitigate flows by delaying or limiting unnecessary usage such as laundry, shower length, dishwashing etc. during rain storms.

Public Notice - Oversized Load - February 25, 2026

Update - Transformer move has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2026.
On Thursday,, February 26, 2026, Don Anderson Haulage will be hauling a Hydro One transformer from the Rail Siding on Hallnor Rd. to the transformer station on Brundy Ave. in Schumacher. The width of this load will occupy a two-lane road with limited shoulder area available.

On February 26, temporary road closures will be in effect on Aura Lake Rd. and Croatia Ave. between Father Costello Dr., prohibiting travel and parking between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Temporary road closure signage will be in place. Due to the height of the load, a number of utility trucks will also provide escort.

The move will begin on Hallnor Rd. on Thursday, February 26mat 9:00 a.m. and will take approximately six hours to reach the transformer station. Expect temporary traffic delays along Hwy. 101 E., Father Costello Dr., Aura Lake Rd., and Croatia Ave. while the load passes through town. Consider arranging an alternative route to avoid delays.

Don Anderson Haulage and the City of Timmins appreciates everyone’s efforts and patience while we navigate this large and complex load through the community.
