Planned Water Shut Off - Feldman Rd - October 6, 2026

The City of Timmins Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the residents and businesses of the specified area below that the water will be temporarily shut off for planned maintenance.

Address: Feldman Road
Start date: October 6, 2026
Start time: 8:00 AM
End date: October 6, 2026
End time: 4:00 PM

The water will be turned on as soon as the work is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

When the water flow returns, properties in the area may experience brown or rust-coloured water and low pressure during the schedule water maintenance. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discoloured water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the colour has returned to normal.

Environmental Service Department would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this scheduled maintenance.

Municipal wastewater consists of 99% water from stormwater and homes/businesses from washing, flushing etc. When a treatment plant or treatment process is overwhelmed, a bypass or overflow can occur. These events are often caused by heavy rainfall and/or snowmelt. During a by-pass or overflow, partially treated wastewater is diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system.

Residents can help by conserving water by delaying or limiting unnecessary usage such as laundry, taking long showers or running the dishwasher during rain storms. You can also help by keeping our pipes clear - no wipes in the pipes!

Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant Maintenance - Environmental Service - August 17, 2026

Planned maintenance will take place at the Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant to facilitate draining, cleaning, and refilling of the chlorine contact tank. This work is required to remove the solids on the bottom of the tank and to remove the growth of algae and moss on the tank walls. While this will temporarily reduce the chlorine contact time, chlorine will continue to be added to the final effluent, and we do not expect significant impacts on the final disinfection process. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks have been notified, and samples will be collected.

Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant Secondary Bypass Report – August 23, 2026

The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public of Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant Secondary Bypass Report.

Address: 551 Airport Road
Start date: August 23, 2026
Start time: 11:46 AM
End date: August 23, 2026
End time: 22:05
Volume by-passed: 8981.629 m3

To learn more about how the system works and what actions you can take please visit: https://www.timmins.ca/cms/one.aspx?portalId=11976429&pageId=20229538

City staff would like to thank residents for their assistance in reducing water usage during this time.

Watermain Test Shutdown – Environmental Services – August 12, 2026

The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public of Watermain Test Shutdown within the following area:
Riverside Dr. from Joseph St. to Royal St.
Date and Time of Disruption: August 12, 2026 from 8:00am to 4:00pm

Homeowners and businesses within the notification area may experience short-term loss in water pressure or experience brown or rust-coloured water during the disruption. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discoloured water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn off your tap for 10-20 minutes in order to allow the crew to finish the activity. Once the flushing is completed and the work crew has left the area, turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water colour has returned to normal.

Environmental Services Department would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this necessary process.
