The following municipal services will be closed or unavailable on Labour Day, Monday, September 1, 2025:
- Service Timmins and the Provincial Offences Centre will be closed.
- There will be no household waste and recycling collection on Monday, September 1. Monday’s collection will be completed on Tuesday, September 2.
- Deloro Landfill will be closed.
- There will be no Timmins Transit services on September 1.
- The Timmins Museum: NEC will be closed.
- Both branches of the Timmins Public Library will be closed.
- Timmins Economic Development will be closed.
- The Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool will be closed for regular annual maintenance.

Pedestrian access across the east side of the Algonquin Blvd. E and Hwy. 655 intersection is no longer available.
Pedestrians are required to use the west side of the crosswalk to travel north/south through the intersection. Signs will be installed on the east side to direct pedestrians, and pedestrian signal heads have been bagged and will be removed.
For your safety, please follow posted signs and use the designated crosswalk on the west side of the intersection.

NOTICE OF COMPLETE APPLICATION AND PUBLIC MEETING RE: PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Timmins will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City of Timmins, 220 Algonquin Boulevard East, Timmins, Ontario, to gather public input regarding a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O 1990, c. THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is to rezone the subject lands currently zoned Rural (RD-RU) to Rural (RD-RU) SP6.197 to permit a 124.86 square metre storage building to be the main building on the subject lands until such time as a primary use, such as a residential dwelling, is constructed. A 47.57 square metre workshop is also located on the subject land.

Update provide August 15, 2025 at 3:42 p.m.: The precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for Porcupine and South Porcupine effective August 15, 2025 at 3:31pm. The City of Timmins has conducted the required water sampling and the results are deemed satisfactory by the City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health.
The City of Timmins Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public that loss of water pressure and/or no water pressure has occurred in the following areas:
All residents, businesses, and consumers in South Porcupine and Porcupine
Date of Advisory: August 12, 2025
Following the restoration of water, the City of Timmins is issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory. The City of Timmins is requiring you to take the following steps:
· Users of the water supply should bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute prior to consumption;
· Wash dishes with boiled water that has been cooled or use potable water from an alternative source; and
· All water taps must be posted, indicating that the water is not safe to drink.
The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the sample results confirm the water is fit for human consumption (minimum of 48 hours following the completion of the repair).
City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this necessary process, and advise that if there are any questions, concerns or requests for additional information, they may contact the Service Timmins at 705-264-1331 during business hours. After-hours emergencies should be directed to 705-264-1201.

The Preventative Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for Porcupine and South Porcupine effective August 15, 2025 at 3:31pm. The City of Timmins has conducted the required water sampling and the results are deemed satisfactory by the City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health.
Background
A Preventative Boil Water Advisory was enacted as a precautionary measure on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 due to repairs on a watermain servicing users in Porcupine and South Porcupine. Water was shut off to complete repairs and later restored, however, the Preventative Boil Water Advisory remained in effect until the City obtained drinking water results in two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart.

Starting Monday, August 18, the small section of Lawrence St. between Michener Blvd. and Hwy 101 E. will be closed. Contractors will be excavating for in-ground services. We expect the closure to take approximately 2 weeks.
Traffic on Hwy 101 E. will not be impacted.
A road closed sign will be placed on Ferguson Rd. at Lawrence St. with access for local traffic only. Crawford and Bristol are available for detours.
