The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department - Waste Management Division, wishes to advise the public of a delay and rescheduling of waste and recycling pick up in the east end of town. Due to the road closure on Highway 101 East, we will be postponing pick up for Friday Morning April 26, 2024, for the following areas:

The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public of a scheduled water infrastructure maintenance of the Standpipe (Water Tower) that may affect the color of water within the following areas:

Areas:
Tower Rd. & Brunette Rd. Area

Date and Time of Disruption:
April 25, 2024, from 8:00PM till April 30, 2024

The maintenance activities at the Hollinger Standpipe (Water Tower) will include the draining of the standpipe to allow for inspections and cleaning. During the draining of the standpipe water may accumulate in low lying areas within the Hollinger Park.

All homes and businesses in the affected area could experience coloured water and/or lower water pressure during this schedule water maintenance. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discoloured water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the colour has returned to normal.

The City of Timmins Public Works is declaring a Significant Weather Event effective Wednesday, April 03, 2024 at 04:00 p.m. and issued under the provisions of the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways (O.Reg 239).

Due to amount of forecasted snow this evening into tomorrow, we are anticipating delays in the plowing of some city streets and roads along with most city sidewalks and resources will be deployed when deemed appropriate.

We are asking residents to avoid driving if at all possible for their own safety during this event. We also remind residents not to block or plug sidewalks when clearing their own driveways.

A reminder that the Winter Parking Ban is effect and parking on the street is not permitted on any day, between the hours of 11:30 pm to 7:30 am, from November 1 through April 30.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter. An additional notice will be posted to declare the end of the Significant Weather Event when the municipality determines is it appropriate to do so.

Reduced load restrictions for commercial motor vehicles and trailers will come into effect on Monday, March 4, 2024 on specific highways and streets within the City of Timmins. By-law 2006-6275 governs load restrictions to protect our roads and highways during the spring thaw, when damage is most likely to happen. By-law 2006-6275 also provides a list of the applicable roads under Schedule A.

The City’s Public Works Dept. is now using the Ministry of Transportation’s Reduced Load Period (RLP) Table to determine the timing of reduced load restrictions. The table uses frost depth, moisture, and daily air temperatures to indicate when reduced load restrictions should be put in place and when they can be lifted. This ensures that the City’s road infrastructure is protected, while supporting the trucking and haulage industry by removed reduced load restrictions when appropriate.

The City of Timmins has closed all municipal arenas and the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool effective 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. All planned programming and activities are cancelled for this evening. 

A Significant Weather Event called by the City's Public Works Department early Wednesday morning remains in effect. Motorists are encouraged to avoid all non-essential travel.

**UPDATE - 4:51 p.m. - Enbridge Gas is charging the gas main and will start going door-to-door to connect with residents and make sure everything is back on.**

 **UPDATE - Enbridge Gas will be going door-to-door to homes in the Bonaventure Dr. area. If residents are not at home, notice will be left with further instructions.**

A natural gas line has been severed during repair of a watermain break in the area of Bonaventure Dr.

Natural gas service has been turned off. Enbridge Gas is currently on-site.

Approximately 200 homes will be without natural gas service while repairs are being made. Contractors are working to have service restored quickly. Currently, the City of Timmins does not have an estimated time of restoration.

Once repairs have been completed, residents will need to have Enbridge Gas relight their natural gas appliances. Please visit https://www.enbridgegas.com/contact-us/faq for additional information.
