Program Eligibility

  • Successfully completed an Ontario PSW training program on or after April 1, 2021
  • Begin employment no later than January 15, 2022; and
  • Commit to 6 months of employment working full-time scheduled hours offered by the employer

Duties

  • Responsible to the Director of Care, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Care, and supervision of the RN and RPN Team Leader, for the direct and indirect care of an assigned group of residents
  • Contribute to the continuous assessment of the health status of the resident, and to the development and modification of the individual resident’s plan of care
  • Assist co-workers as required
  • Perform the physical tasks required to meet the needs of the residents which may vary from minimal assistance to total care
  • Support residents in maintaining independence in their activities of daily living
  • The PSW fulfills his/her responsibility as a member of the nursing department and functions within policy and procedures of the Golden Manor
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Successfully complete an Ontario PSW training program that meets the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities program standard
  • Demonstrated experience in caring for seniors in long term care 
  • Demonstrated experience in documentation and care planning 
  • Availability to work shift work and weekends
  • Able to work independently, or as part of a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Current and clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen required
  • Ability to adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols and screening requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination mandatory
Rate of pay

$22.67 to $24.15 per hour (plus 18% in lieu of benefits & vacation) In accordance with CUPE Local 1140 Agreement

Connecting Link construction is wrapping up with final projects like tapering the new and old asphalt together along the Algonquin Blvd. corridor.

On Tuesday, November 2 crews will be working on the Mattagami Blvd. South intersection and vehicles will be directed along Algonquin Blvd. to Fogg St. South to access the Wilson Ave. detour. Algonquin Blvd. will be open to one lane in each direction at Fogg St. South.

The interruption to the regular detour will be for one day only.

October 30th is the deadline for pushing your portable basketball hoops back from the street. 

The extended good weather means we've enjoyed a longer season of outside recreation, but winter is coming and City crews want to be ready to remove snow and keep our roads clear.

Please push back your portable basketball hoops by October 30th.

The Timmins Police Service is actively recruiting for police constables. This position offers the successful candidates an opportunity for a long and rewarding career in law enforcement while receiving training and performing a variety of functions within the organization.

Applicants must meet minimum requirements as outlined in the Police Services Act and provide proof of valid Ontario Driver’s License, Standard First Aid and CPR certifications. A fitness test completed by the police agency will be a component of the selection process.

Greater consideration will be given to candidates with college/university education, who possess a concern for safety, computer/keyboarding skills with proficiency in Windows applications, a commitment to learning, and knowledge of the community we serve.  Bilingualism is an asset. The City of Timmins wishes to advise the public that the completion date for the Whitney-Tisdale Pumping Station No. 4 project has been extended to January 28, 2022, as approved by the Ministry of the Environment.

The project is nearing completion and the City is pleased to report that the micro-piling work undertaken to rectify issues encountered on the site has been completed. The commissioning activities, which are required to be completed before the new pumping station can be put into operation, have led to an extension of the completion date. The extension is necessary due to leaking of the equalization tanks and flooding of the pump equipment, which occurred during mandatory facility testing.

The City is confident that the contractor will complete the construction of a fully operational station before turning the project over to the City by the end of January, including any delays in final commissioning that may occur over the holiday break. The City has taken all commercially reasonable steps to mitigate the impact of any further delays.

The City can further confirm that the extension of the completion date is not expected to give rise to any additional costs above the amended remediation budget for the project.

It’s inevitable: winter is coming. In preparation for the cold and snow, the City of Timmins is reminding residents of winter by-laws that will shortly go into effect.

The winter overnight parking ban takes effect on Monday, November 1 and helps ensure that Public Works can complete snow removal operations and keep Timmins’ roads safe and clear. From November 1 until April 30 any vehicle parked on the street between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. will be subject to a $50 fine and the vehicle may be towed at the expense of the owner (unless you are in an area exempt from the winter parking ban).

The City of Timmins will inform residents of winter road maintenance with temporary “no parking” snow removal signs (yellow and red in colour), posted before snow removal begins. A weekly snow removal schedule will also be posted online at Timmins.ca and shared to the City’s Facebook page. Remember to look for signs posted on your street to ensure parking has not been restricted in your area.

The City of Timmins Snow By-law 1993-4162 provides guidelines for clearing snow from your property. Snow must never be placed onto the street or sidewalk. Moving snow from your driveway onto the sidewalk or street can create various safety hazards, obstruct pedestrian traffic, or obstruct the view of drivers. Even a small amount of snow left on a sidewalk can cause accessibility issues for some our residents.

And finally, if you plan on installing a temporary structure such as a winter car shelter, you will require a permit from the City of Timmins. A seasonal structure permit is just $15. Approved seasonal structures can be erected between October 1 and April 30. You will need to submit an application (available online at Timmins.ca), your site plan, and payment to Service Timmins.

The City of Timmins would like to advise the public that the docks at the Mattagami Boat Launch and White Waterfront Conservation Area at Porcupine Lake will be removed this week for winter.

The docks will be reinstalled in Spring, exact date to be determined subject to weather conditions.

The City of Timmins wishes to advise the public that a section of the Terry Fox Trail is closed effective immediately while City contractors perform remediation work on the trail.

The closed section is the first 200 meters north of Dalton Rd. The closure is expected to last two to three weeks.

The public will not be allowed to walk or cycle on this section of trail during the construction process due to safety concerns.
