Work on the Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station is nearing completion. City contractors begin a final phase of the project on Monday that will require that access to the Prospector’s Trail, part of the Bart Thomson Trail system around Porcupine Lake, be closed for approximately two weeks.

The trail will be closed at this location to facilitate construction while crews excavate the existing underground network of pipes. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety in an active construction zone. While access to the trail system is closed at the Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station, the public can access the Bart Thomson Trail from the Northern College property.

This work is necessary before final commissioning of the plant. We appreciate your continued patience as this important project comes to a close.

The City of Timmins has implemented a workplace vaccination policy that requires mandatory COVID-19 vaccines for all municipal employees, students, contractors within City facilities, and volunteers. The City has a responsibility to take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety and protection of its workers, their loved ones, the community, and our healthcare system.

Unless medically exempt, the workplace vaccination policy requires proof of full vaccination by end of business day on Friday, October 1, 2021. Employees who have received one vaccine dose as of the above date will need to complete Rapid Antigen Testing twice per week as they move towards full vaccination.

The policy was crafted following guidance and mandates recently set by the province regarding vaccine passports. The City of Timmins is committed to providing a safe work environment for all employees.
