NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING AND COMPLETE APPLICATION FOR A PROPOSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Timmins has received an application for a proposed Official Plan Amendment pursuant to the provisions of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended. This application is deemed complete for the purpose of the Planning Act.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Timmins will hold a public meeting on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers, City of Timmins, 220 Algonquin Boulevard East, Timmins, Ontario, to gather public input regarding the proposed Official Plan Amendment pursuant to the provisions of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended.

THE PROPOSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT would redesignate a 2.0 hectare proposed lot from the Employment Area designation to the Resource Development Area designation, to fulfill a condition of approval for Consent Application B-10-26, approved by City of Timmins Committee of Adjustment via Decision No.: 26-057, dated June 22, 2026. The proposed amendment would reduce the settlement area boundary of the City of Timmins by 2.0 hectares. The intent of this application is to accommodate a future single detached dwelling on the subject land by adjusting the settlement area boundary in this area of the City.

ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of Council of the City of Timmins to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Timmins before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Timmins before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.

Please note that the rights of third parties to appeal Official Plan Amendment decisions to the Ontario Land Tribunal have been restricted under the Planning Act.

The subject land was the subject of Minor Variance Application A-30-26 and Consent Application B-10-26.
