Timmins Transit would like to advise the public that this Saturday, September 2, 2023, they will be running a modified Sunday schedule.

Hours of service will not change. Buses will be running from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Routes 901 (east-west), 902 (north-south), 7 (Park Ave.) and 6 (Riverside) will be in service. Changes will be reflected on the Transit Tracker.

The City of Timmins wishes to inform the public about work happening on Lafleur Bridge starting August 28, 2023 for approximately one week. Lane reductions will be in place. Expect minimal delays.

Contractors will be working on the expansion joints of the bridge, which allow movement from weather and traffic.

The City of Timmins, Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public of hydrant flushing/watermain cleaning activities in the following areas.

Area:
Jubilee Ave. W, working westward from MacLean Dr. to College St. including J.V Bonhomme Area
Airport Rd., working westward from College St. to Kellyanne Dr. including all Melrose Area

Date of Disruption:
Ongoing for the month of August into September

Homeowners and businesses may experience short-term loss in water pressure or experience brown or rust-coloured water following the testing. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discolored water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn off your tap for 10-20 minutes in order to allow the crew to complete the test. Once the test is complete and the work crew has left the area, turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.

City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this necessary process, and advise that if there are any questions, concerns or requests for additional information, they may contact the Service Timmins at 705-264-1331. The City of Timmins wishes to inform the public that Spruce St. S. is closed between Third Ave. and Second Ave. for gas leak repairs. The closure is necessary to maintain gas safety handling distances.

The closure will remain in effect until work is completed.

There is no disruption to Timmins Transit bus services.

Thank you for your patience while Enbridge Gas crews work to make repairs.

The City of Timmins wishes to advise the public of a road closure on Suzanne St. at Spooner and River Park effective August 25, 2023.

Paving is being completed following infrastructure repairs.

The street is closed to to local traffic only. Traffic controls are in place.

The Enforcement Services Department wishes to inform the public that parking will be disrupted temporarily due to parking lot repaving at Cedar South Lot (behind Timmins Flower Shop) beginning Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Repaving of select municipal parking lots will increase safety by eliminating uneven ground. Additional parking signage will also be added to provide clear and concise parking instruction.

Please familiarize yourself with alternate City parking locations before construction begins.

There will be a crew working this evening until 8pm tonight to continue the collection from Tuesday and Wednesday. If your carts are not collected today, please have them curbside no later than 7:30 AM, Thursday August 10, 2023.

The City of Timmins Environmental Services Department, Waste Management Division, wishes to advise the public of a delay in regular schedule pick up on Thursday August 3, 2023. Waste and recycling carts can be delayed or postponed in pick up until tomorrow, August 4, 2023.

There will be a crew working this evening until 8pm behind the Porcupine Mall and from Legion street to Porcupine Lake. The contracted crew, in the area of Legion Street to Porcupine Lake, will be concentrating on waste first then recycling.
If your carts are not collected today please have them curbside no later than 7:30 AM Friday August 4th, 2023.

The City of Timmins Environmental Services & Public Utilities department wishes to advise the public of a scheduled water infrastructure maintenance activity affecting water quality on Eric Cr. from houses 177/178 North to 164/165. This is scheduled to start August 3, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

All homes and businesses in the affected area could be without water for a few hours as well colored water and lower than normal water pressures. Residents have been notified.

Homeowners in that area may experience brown or rust-colored water during the schedule water maintenance. It is recommended not to drink or wash laundry with the discolored water. While it is not harmful to your health, it can stain laundry. Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.

City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this work.

The City of Timmins Environmental Services department wishes to advise the public that the Preventative Boil Water Advisory at the Pine Ridge Motel & Trailer Park has been lifted.

  • Area: Pine Ridge Motel & Trailer Court
  • Date Advisory Lifted: August 2nd, 2023

The Preventative Boil Water Advisory that the City of Timmins issued on July 30th, 2023 has been lifted.

Critical maintenance on the system was completed followed by satisfactory bacteriological sample results.

**UPDATE - 3:23 p.m.**

Crews continue to work on a number of watermain breaks in South Porcupine / Porcupine. Residents and businesses in the area may experience lower than normal to no water pressure while repairs are completed. Full disruption of water service will be temporary if required. 

Road closures remain in effect for all locations while work is being carried out:

- Harold Ave. - repairs are complete. Ready for water restoration and preventative sampling.
- Intersection of Summers and Smith
- Tisdale from Goldrush to Smith
- Essa between Crawford and Main
- Legion between William and Shamrock
- Eric Cr.
- Northern College service interruption still in effect. This is a private break. Contractors will be completing repair.

Repairs to a watermain break on Dwyer Ave. have also been completed.

Work is expected to continue until late this evening. City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation. 

The City of Timmins will continue to provide updates as needed.

Should this occur, it is advised to turn on the COLD water tap closest to the source (usually your laundry tub tap) and let it run for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the water color has returned to normal.
