Reduced load restrictions for commercial motor vehicles and trailers will be lifted as of Friday, June 2, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. on applicable roads within the city of Timmins.
Due to on-going construction, commercial motor vehicles are required to use the standard truck detour along Shirley St. to Laforest Rd. and Hwy. 655. The removal of half-load restrictions does not change or alter the approved truck detour route for construction along Riverside Dr. and Algonquin Blvd. Roadways like Jaguar Dr., Government Rd. and Sandy Falls Rd. are not designated as truck routes, and road conditions can deteriorate quickly from repeated heavy truck traffic.
By-law 2006-6275 governs load restrictions to protect our roads and highways during the spring thaw, when damage is most likely to happen. Typically, reduced load restrictions are in place until mid-June and are subject to the provisions of Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act RSO 1990 Chapter H 8.”
