An early morning fire on James St. was quickly brought under control by the Timmins Fire Department. Crews from Stations 3 and 5 were dispatched at 6:54 a.m. to a detached garage fire that had spread to a nearby fence and trees.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, preventing further spread and damage to adjacent property. The fire was under control by 7:12 a.m.
Timmins Fire Department Investigators attended the scene to determine a cause. Following initial investigation, the circumstances were determined to be suspicious and Timmins Police Service was contacted to assist with the investigation.
The Timmins Fire Department would like to remind residents to ensure every home has working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on all levels of the home and outside sleeping areas. Have a home escape plan and practice it regularly with everyone in the household.
