February 25, 2019 - The extreme cold weather alert has been called back into effect for the City of Timmins until further notice, as nighttime temperatures are expected to remain at or below -27C for the foreseeable future. Volunteers and donations are always welcome. To find out how you can help, please contact Living Space at 705-531-7233.

Living Space has recently expanded its resources, and is now able to accommodate more people, therefore making it the primary shelter.

Living Space (27 Cedar Street North) will be open:
- Daytime from 8 am to 4 pm – Free low-barrier drop-in program
- Evenings from 8 pm to the following morning at 8 am – Free low-barrier emergency shelter

Background:
The Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Timmins will call an alert when Environment Canada predicts overnight temperatures of -27C or lower with or without wind chill, based on warnings from Health Canada of imminent risk of health at that temperature.

Alerts will be issued in the morning before an extremely cold night so community agencies have time to call in extra staff to provide additional services.
