May 28, 2019 - Road repairs have begun throughout the City of Timmins, and the motoring public are being asked for its continued patience throughout what will be a busy construction season.

With closures to Norman and McChesney already in place due to water levels, the city’s roads crews are taking advantage of the opportunity to repair potholes in these areas, and are expecting to reopen to traffic by the end of day.

As per existing notices posted to the City’s website:
- The city has been completing overnight grinding and paving operations at numerous locations throughout the city.

- Beginning yesterday (May 27) the westbound entrance ramp onto Hwy 655 is closed for an extended period of time to repair a watermain and allow for restoration work to be completed. All traffic turning north from the westbound lanes will be forced to turn right at the intersection and will not have access to the ramp to merge with traffic. Tractor trailer vehicles will have some difficulty turning right at this intersection and will need to plan their turn accordingly. Access is expected to be restored by approximately 4 pm on May 31.

- Today and tomorrow (May 28 and 29), there is a road closure on Pine Street North, between Seventh and Eighth Avenue, as it is prepared for paving.

- Today and tomorrow (May 28 and 29), there is a road closure at the intersection of Ross and Gordon, as it is prepared for paving.

Traffic control is, or will be, in place for all paving operations, and in the interest of safety, it is requested that drivers slow down when proceeding through work zones.

City staff would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this time, and advise that if there are any questions, concerns or requests for additional information, they may contact Service Timmins at 705-264-1331 or email servicetimmins@timmins.ca. After-hours emergencies should be directed to 705-264-1201.
