The City of Timmins has honoured Archie Berube and Rick Morgan with Heart of Gold Civic Awards in recognition of their longstanding commitment to volunteerism and lasting contributions to the community.
Archie Berube has been a driving force behind the growth and revitalization of the Northern Ontario Golf Association (NGA) for more than 25 years. Through his leadership, the organization has strengthened its relationship with Golf Ontario and Golf Canada, helping solidify Northern Ontario’s role within the provincial and national golf community.
Beyond his work with the NGA, Berube supports the Hollinger Golf Club’s Starter and Marshal Program, volunteers at Golf Ontario qualifiers and championships, and contributes to golf course ratings across Northern Ontario. His contributions to sport have earned him induction into the Timmins Sports Heritage Hall of Fame and the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame.
Rick Morgan has dedicated decades of volunteer service to supporting families and individuals in need across Timmins. As a member of the Kiwanis Club of Timmins, Morgan has focused his efforts on helping youth participate in sports, attend medical appointments, and access medical equipment that improves quality of life. He has been recognized as a Kiwanian of the Year multiple times, reflecting the respect and appreciation he has earned from his peers.
Morgan also volunteers with the Timmins Food Bank, helping organize food drives and coordinate donations that strengthen food security in the community. Through his action and mentorship, Morgan continues to inspire others to give back, embodying the generosity and spirit represented by the Heart of Gold Award.
