On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at approximately 3:46 p.m., the Timmins Fire Department responded to reports of smoke in a residence located in a three-storey, multi-unit residential building at the corner of Bruce Ave. and Crawford St. Crews from Stations 2, 4, and 5 were dispatched to the scene.
Arriving unit reported heavy black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and worked to clear the building and remaining hot spots and smoke.
All tenants were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. Some residents were displaced as a result of the fire and received assistance from the Canadian Red Cross.
The Timmins Fire Dept.’s Fire Prevention Division investigation of the fire remains ongoing, and no cause has been determined at this time.
The Timmins Fire Dept. reminds residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed on every level of their home and outside all sleeping areas. Residents should also have a home escape plan that includes a designated meeting place and practice the plan with everyone in their household.
