Snow Removal

Public Works carries out a program of snow removal on City streets on a priority roadway basis.

The City of Timmins operates several snow dumps, located in various areas of the City. During the winter months, snow removed from the streets are dumped at these locations . Certain snow dumps can be used by the public, provided they obey the rules and guidelines of the snow dump.

Interested parties must contact the Public Works Department at 360-2646 for permission, operational hours, and rules/guidelines.

Street Winter Sanding

Winter sanding is provided on an as required basis with regular patrolling supplemented by Timmins Police patrols and response to calls by the public.

Street Snow Plowing

After a winter storm, roadways are plowed on a priority basis with major routes and bus routes done first. Some arterial roadways are maintained to bare pavement surfaces where possible, with the majority of roadways maintained on a snow packed surface.
