Hazardous Waste Event

The Environmental Services department would like to thank the City of Timmins' residents and volunteers on the success of the 2021 Household Hazardous and Special Waste Event.

The Household Hazardous & Special Waste event was held on Saturday, June 12, 2021. The event provided residents with the opportunity to dispose of their household hazardous and special waste.

Over 1200 vehicles attended the event and over 52 tonnes of hazardous and special waste was accepted.

Household Hazardous and Special Waste Event

This event is a great opportunity for residents to properly dispose of their household hazardous and special waste. Please note that this event is for residents only, commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted.

The following items will be collected;

  • Paint;
  • Flammable/Misc. Organics;
  • Aerosols;
  • Single Use Batteries;
  • Single Use Propane Cylinders and Refillable Propane Tanks;
  • Oxidizers;
  • Pesticides;
  • Antifreeze;
  • Oil Filters;
  • Inorganic Acids and Bases;
  • Fuel and Oil;
  • Pathological Waste (sharps);
  • Pharmaceuticals; and
  • Compact Fluorescents and Fluorescent Tubes;
  • Household electronics.

This is a set-up as a drive-thru event. You will not need to leave your car and all employees will be wearing full PPE.
