Ensuring that pedestrian access is safe and maintained around active construction sites is an important part of the planning process during Connecting Link construction.
Currently, Hwy. 101 E. / Harold Ave. in South Porcupine and Porcupine has one sidewalk on the south side of the highway. We're going to improve walkability and accessibility by adding a new sidewalk on the north side of the highway connecting Crawford St. with the Porcupine Mall.
During construction, there will be temporary closures of the sidewalk on the south side. Signage will indicate when the sidewalk is closed. An alternative route away from construction is available by using the foot path from Huot St. to Northern College and around the back of the college building and the Integrated Services Complex. This will bring you back out at the Porcupine Mall.
