Housing Community Improvement Plan

The Housing Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a community revitalization tool that responds to the current and future housing needs of the City of Timmins. The City will require a housing supply that is responsive to changing demographics, economics, and market conditions.

The Housing CIP is intended to accelerate the construction of new housing units to increase the overall supply of housing options within the city and meet growth management targets.

Objectives

The Plan will encourage rapid investment in new housing units by providing financial incentives that help facilitate the development of housing across the city.

The Housing CIP will:

  • Support the implementation of Recommendation 7 of the City of Timmins Housing Action Plan.
  • Implement the housing policies presented in the City of Timmins Official Plan.
  • Increase the overall inventory of housing stock.
  • Develop an appropriate mix of housing with regards to type and tenure.
  • Respond to the diverse needs of current and future residents.

Financial Incentive Programs

Annually, Council budgets approximately $150,000 for these grants. Completed, eligible applications will be reviewed and approved for funding by the Community and Development Services Department on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
