Project Details:

The City of Timmins has awarded a three-year "grind and pave" contract to fix eligible roads in 2025, 2026, and 2027. All sections chosen were listed in the City's 2024 Roads Needs Study as "poor or worse" condition.

This year’s paving contract will complete approximately 15 kilometers of grind and pave on various roadway lanes throughout the city.

LIST OF ROADS

Grind (mill) and pave is a cost-effective way to extend the life-cycle of the road surface. The top layer of asphalt is removed using a milling machine. A fresh layer of asphalt is then applied and compacted. The City uses the grind and pave process to correct surface defects like potholes and cracks. It allows for the rehabilitation of the asphalt surface without full-depth reconstruction. The removed asphalt is recycled and re-used.
