The City is upgrading the Bob's Lake pumping infrastructure with plans to permanently close the Bob's Lake lagoon and redirect sewage from the area to the Whitney/Tisdale Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The current Bob's Lake facility does not have sufficient hydraulic or treatment capacity to manage the current and projected wastewater flows and loads generated within its service area. The Whitney/Tisdale Wastewater Treatment Plant has sufficient capacity to accept and treat the wastewater generated and ensure long-term regulatory compliance and environmental protection. Part of the project will be upgrading the existing Bob's Lake pumping infrastructure and decommissioning the lagoon.
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study
The City is conducting a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to identify alternative solutions for decommissioning the lagoon and developing a technically preferred solution that will address the concerns related to the decommissioning and the upgrade of Bob's Lake pumping infrastructure.
Environmental impacts will be evaluated and consultation with the public and external agencies will be considered before a technically preferred alternative is selected.
