The City of Timmins Public Works is declaring a Significant Weather Event under the provisions of the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways (O.Reg 239/02). Starting at 5:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Due to the winter storm warning issued by Environment Canada and modeling with the amount of snow forecasted, we are anticipating delays in the plowing of some city streets and roads along with most city sidewalks. City resources will be deployed when deemed appropriate. Environment Canada is predicting a major winter storm with snow, heavy at times, and local blowing snow expected to begin tonight and continuing through Friday before tapering off Saturday evening. Potential hazards include: • Total snowfall amounts of 30 to 60 cm. • Near zero visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Environment Canada advises residents to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Weather may also impact Timmins Transit service. Delays and/or cancellation of services may occur. Updates will be shared via the City website and social media. We also remind residents that the Winter Parking Ban is in effect and parking on the street is not permitted on any day, between the hours of 11:30 pm to 7:30 am, from November 1 through April 30 unless otherwise posted. Residents are also reminded that City BYLAW 1993-4162 does not allow a person to place snow from a person’s property onto the road or sidewalk. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Notice of Disruption Snow Plowing Event – Sunday, November 16, 2025 The City of Timmins Public Works Department would like to advise the public that a city wide snow plowing operation is planned to begin Sunday, November 16 at 12:01am. and is anticipated to last all day and may continue into the evening. Crews will be deployed to plow city streets, rural roads, laneways and parking lots across the city. We would also like to remind the public that the Winter Parking Ban is in effect. Baby wipes, feminine products, dental floss, cotton swabs, cleaning and disinfectant wipes, toilet bowl scrubbers and paper towels might be labeled "flushable," but they are not! These products do not break down in the sewer system and can cause plugs in sewer pipes and pumps, resulting in sewer backups, overflows, costly cleanups and sewage equipment replacement. While it may seem convenient to dispose of various materials in this manner, it can have severe consequences for our sewage works. Please dispose of non-flushable items in the waste receptacle, ensuring they are properly bagged. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. By working together to practice responsible waste disposal, we can help maintain the integrity of our sewage system.

Pedestrians are required to use the west side of the crosswalk to travel north/south through the intersection. Signs will be installed on the east side to direct pedestrians, and pedestrian signal heads have been bagged and will be removed. The City of Timmins Environmental Services Department wishes to advise the public that loss of water pressure and/or no water pressure has occurred in the following areas: All residents, businesses, and consumers in South Porcupine and Porcupine Date of Advisory: August 12, 2025 Following the restoration of water, the City of Timmins is issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory. The City of Timmins is requiring you to take the following steps: · Users of the water supply should bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute prior to consumption; · Wash dishes with boiled water that has been cooled or use potable water from an alternative source; and · All water taps must be posted, indicating that the water is not safe to drink. The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the sample results confirm the water is fit for human consumption (minimum of 48 hours following the completion of the repair). The City of Timmins has conducted the required water sampling and the results are deemed satisfactory by the City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health. Background A Preventative Boil Water Advisory was enacted as a precautionary measure on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 due to repairs on a watermain servicing users in Porcupine and South Porcupine. Water was shut off to complete repairs and later restored, however, the Preventative Boil Water Advisory remained in effect until the City obtained drinking water results in two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours apart. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your cooperation.

These events are often caused by heavy rainfall and/or snowmelt. During a by-pass or overflow, partially treated wastewater is diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups, overflows or damage to the system. Residents can help by conserving water by delaying or limiting unnecessary usage such as laundry, taking long showers or running the dishwasher during rain storms.
