Timmins City Council has approved a temporary overnight security patrol pilot to address community safety concerns in the area surrounding the emergency shelter on Spruce St. S.
Start Date: Monday, September 8, 2025
Duration: 40 days
Hours: Nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Security: EyeQ Security Services Ltd.
Staffing: Two security guards on duty each night
Project Cost: Projected cost is approximately $22,000
Patrol Area:
Security patrols will cover a two-block radius around the shelter:
East-West: Railway St. to Pine St. S.
North-South: Kirby Ave. to Dale Ave.
Monitoring and Reporting:
At the conclusion of the pilot project, City staff will present a report to City Council that includes quantitative data on the number of service calls and security interactions, and qualitative data with input from neighbouring residents and businesses.
